Resources:

A source of supply, support or aid, especially one that can be readily drawn upon when needed -- Dictionary.com

Dear Members -

NIBA is excited to announce two new resources designed to help members grow their businesses.

First, the NIBA Resource Center. In addition to other services and products unique to the derivatives industry, this member benefit includes white papers, seminars/webinar announcements and programs such as a joint intern project. The NIBA Resource Center will open as a private portal on the website mid-summer 2016. To suggest content for the Resource Center, contact Tom Sandy, NIBA Resource Center Chairman, ts@ricedairy.com. You can take advance of our second resource just by being a member of the NIBA! Exchange Analytics (EA), one of NIBA’s Service Provider Members is offering free online AML and Cybersecurity training to members who attend the NIBA/DePaul University Briefing, July 14 in Chicago. IB, CTA and AP members will receive a special code provided by EA to take both AML and Cybersecurity training through EA’s website. EA will provide a certificate of completion directly to each individual. (link to Larry’s article) To learn more about the NIBA/DePaul Briefing, contact Jerry Nolan, NIBA Event Chairman, jnolan@countycorkllc.com. Registration is open for the July 14 Event.  REGISTER HERE

For over 25 years, NIBA has provided the education and information to derivatives professionals. Over the years, those resources have changed along with changes in the industry and regulation. But NIBA is still the very definition of “resources” -- your source of support and aid which is always there when you need it. Please join or renew your membership today.

Best, Melinda

From the Classroom to the Trading Floor

There is no single, clearly defined education path for entering the derivatives industry as professionals come from a range of academic backgrounds. Still, higher education plays a crucial role in preparing students for success in this complex and fast-evolving field. A strong foundation in finance, economics, and mathematics is essential. At the undergraduate level, students should prioritize courses in financial markets and institutions, investment analysis, corporate finance, and introductory derivatives. With the increasing reliance on algorithmic trading and quantitative research, a concentration or minor in applied mathematics, data science, or computer programming can...
