The National Introducing Broker Association (NIBA) held its 25th Anniversary Conference on Wednesday, September 14th, 2016 at the iconic Chicago Mercantile Exchange. Featuring panel and debate-style sessions, this conference addressed topics covering key compliance issues, financial technology disruption, best practices in financial marketing, and economic effects resulting from the recent Brexit. nibaconf2In addition to exclusive financial compliance training opportunities for attendees, the conference included a special tour of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange’s Global Command Center which is the Market Operations and Customer Service desk for electronic trading on the world’s largest futures exchange. Dovetailing the event is the announcement of the newly redesigned NIBA website developed by Gate 39 Media, which not only has a new look and layout, but features a Resource Portal, which offers valuable industry content for NIBA Members. Established in 1991, the NIBA is a nationally recognized organization representing professionals in the futures and options industry. The non-profit association was created to help members achieve success through education and networking, as well as to provide members with a voice in regulatory and industry matters. Through the efforts of volunteers and members, NIBA membership has grown to include Introducing Brokers, Commodity Trading Advisors, Futures and Options Exchanges, Futures Commissions Merchants, swaps participants, and resource providers to the industry, as well as other participants in the futures and options markets. nibaconf1“I am proud to be part of an association that has helped hundreds of derivatives professionals grow their businesses and serve their customers,” says Melinda Schramm, Founder and Chairman of the NIBA Board of Directors. “The 25th Anniversary Conference was a wonderful event - well organized, well presented and well received. The meeting offered members an opportunity to express their opinions about issues we confront every day, such as regulation and business practices, and respond to those concerns with a unified voice. NIBA looks forward to providing education and information to help association members meet the challenges of an ever-changing, truly global industry.” nibaconf3Over the past 25 years, NIBA has successfully achieved objectives on behalf of derivatives professionals, including active representation during the MF Global and PFG failures, gaining the release of broker commission runs, lowering NFA dues, opposing minimum capital requirements for CTAs, supporting forex transaction regulation, and testifying before U.S. Congress on issues ranging from proposed Farm Bill amendments, to CFTC reauthorization and ethics training requirements for registrants.
